Wines & Ales
We have on offer fantastic wines from our local Ickworth vineyard .
Lady Geraldine Blush - think damsons and raspberries (LG was the 3rd wife of Marquis of Bristol – sadly knocked down and killed by a taxi in 1927 – famous for her fan collection and walk in the grounds of Ickworth)
Walled Garden White – think gooseberry and elderflower (fruity). Grapes were grown and stored over winter in the 1st earl of Bristol 's summer house in the grounds of Ickworth
Suffolk Pink – fantastic sparkling pink which rivals the quality of the best pink champagne.
To describe Suffolk Pink as delectable is an understatement
We also stock a range of fine European wines and Champagne .
In addition, we offer:
Umble Ale from Clare's own Nethersgate brewery – brewed with Challenger and Fuggles whole leaf hops, Maris Otter and Crystal malts, and with a hint of coriander
St Peters Organic Ale – from water drawn from below this 700 year old Suffolk brewery and to a recipe of the same age
Aspall local organic (fantastic) Suffolk Cyder
Aspall Perronelle's Blush Suffolk Cyder (with a hint of blackberry liqueur) – Perronelle Chevallier inherited the Aspall business in 1940 and was one of the first women to go to university
And who can resist a glass of our Madeira (one of the very few non-local offerings in Café Clare!!)
All of these delights can be consumed on premises, or taken away for you to enjoy at home (or somebody else's home)
Bites
A small tasty bite as a perfect partner to your favourite drink; small but delectable…
A bowl of plump olives, or spicy nuts. Or perhaps even our Café Clare savoury bite of the day..
But, who could resist our Black Pudding and a glass of red wine (Paul's choice!!)
